Freshen Up With Food

Oranges

We have all had those onions that seem to follow us for days, or the garlic bread that you can’t get off your breath no matter what you do. Most of us know the foods to steer clear of if we are going to be in closer quarters any time soon, but what about foods that give us fresher breath? Bad breath is always an issue that is asked about in any dental office, so Jordan Dentistry, located in Cumming, Ga, suggests adding some of these foods to your diet for fresher breath.

  • Water is one of the first things you should go for when trying to tackle bad breath. Dry mouth is one of the biggest reasons for bad breath, and staying hydrated is one of the easiest ways to avoid it.
  • Yogurt is high in probiotics and odor-eliminating properties.
  • Crunchy Foods, like apples, help to keep your teeth clean of plaque and bacteria that would normally make its way to your tongue.
  • Citrus Fruits  are great for your breath. They are packed full of Vitamin C, and bacteria cannot thrive in an area with high levels.
  • Cinnamon have essential oils, which studies have shown to fight bad breath.
  • Leafy Greens such as spinach or kale help regulate the pH levels in your mouth, which in turn help prevent dry mouth.
  • Strawberries are a great one stop shop for your breath. Not only are they delicious, but they are loaded with water which can help prevent dry mouth, and are also filled with vitamin C.
  • Basil and Parsley, which help add great flavor to our food, are also filled with chlorophyll which is a natural deodorizer.
  • Green Tea is high in antioxidants that fight bacteria.
